PowerPath & Microsoft Hyper-V
Hi All,
I install powerpath 5.1 for windows at Microsft hyper-V environemnt.
I read doc, and found powerpath VE also support MS hyper V.
What will it impact the system if I use regular powerpath?
Thank you for input.

Hi Dennis. PowerPath/VE for Windows Hyper-V support was introduced with the 5.3 release.
PowerPath/VE for Windows on W2K8 is specifically licensed for the Hyper-V feature in the parent partition. PowerPath for Windows is used in all other cases when Hyper-V is not in use.
I hope that helps.
Thanks, Brion

Hi. If a W2K8 server has Hyper-V enabled, then PowerPath/VE for Microsoft Hyper-V must be installed on the parent partition. It is not installed on the child partitions. The benefit of Hyper-V is the consolidation achieved on a single physical server. The child partitions have no knowledge that PowerPath/VE is managing all I/O, so all applications in these partitions see the benefits of one PowerPath/VE instance. PowerPath/VE for Hyper-V is licensed for the virtual environment. I hope this helps. If not, please let me know.
Thanks, Brion
