How did your migration using PowerPath Migration Enabler go?

It is free if you are already licenses for PowerPath.. Check out the: "Implementing PowerPath Migration Enabler in Open Replicator" White Paper, from PowerLink.. Also other PPME documents while there.. It also helps on obtaining the necessary license(s), according to your environment. In addition, this document also some some comparisons.. Hope this helps

Thanks everyone that has replied.  I have everything that i need as far as documents and license keys.  What i am looking for in this post is someone that has actually used the program and thier views on how it went. Did they have any issues that are not documented?  On paper it sounds like the easiest program to use.

Like i siad before,  i have 11TB of data to migrate from single and clustered hosts and before i go and recommend this solution, i was hopeing to hear from someone who has used it (since i have not).

I am putting together a test machine so i can check it out myself and will post back my findings.

Unfortunately I've never used it, but a colleague of mine did last week and he said it really was a piece of cake. I'm very curious now if you experience it that way also. Let us know.

I've only done testing with it. We will eventually use to to move thick luns to thin luns (only copies used data) and in the future for storage array replacements. Here are some of the results I saw when running tests (the LUN was 10 GB and have 2.99 GB used):

*The suspend time variable has gone away in version 5.5

The migrator can handle host reboots which is very nice. You can pause and resume very easily. My plan was to create simple .bat files and have cron adjust the settings throughout the day to reduce impact during production time.

I just wanted to give an update on my tests.

PPME is probably the easiest migration program you can use between hosts with PowerPath.   I could not believe how simple it was.  I did multiple tests on non-clustered hosts with no problems.  I did thick to thick and thick to thin migrations.  I messed with the throttle settings, paused and resumed the migration and it all went well.

THe test host wasnt being used for anything else so it didnt have a big load on it like a production box might but my test luns were 30G (25G of data) going to a 45G target lun. the default throttle setting of 2 took about 18 minutes.  When i moved it to setting of 0, it took about 8 minutes.  I had perfmon running and i never seen CPU usage go above 10% even at throttle 0 setting.

I havent tried it on a cluster but im going to migrate all my non-clustered hosts over first and work on the others later.

what i remember from earlier discussions are thet PPME does not work with UNIX. is that true?
