Announcing EMC PowerPath/VE 5.9 for VMware vSphere

New release supports VMware vSphere 5.5 and next generation EMC VNX series

EMC is announcing EMC PowerPath/VE 5.9, which provides full support for VMware vSphere 5.5. This release also adds support for the newly announced next generation VNX models.

PowerPath/VE 5.9 ensures high availability across heterogeneous server, network, and storage in a VMware virtual infrastructure. This release provides support for the following EMC storage systems and associated software:

VMAX

  • 40K, 20K, and 10K Enhanced
  • Enginuity 5876
  • Enginuity 5876 and later

VNX/VNXe

  • Active/Active VNX5400, VNX5600, VNX5800, VNX7600, VNX8000 with OE 5.33
  • VNXe 3150/3300
  • VNXe iSCSI OE 2.x (

    Note: VNXe devices are managed under the generic device class and appear as Celerra devices in rpowermt output.)

  • VNX OE 5.32

VPLEX

  • VPLEX VS2 (5.0)
  • GeoSynchrony 5.2
  • New features and changes
  • PowerPath/VE 5.9 for VMware vSphere Release Notes 5
  • GeoSynchrony 5.1.x (5.1 Patch 1,2, and 3 )
  • GeoSynchrony 5.0.1.x (5.0 SP1 Patch 1 and 2)

XtremIO

  • XtremIO X-Brick
  • XIOS 1.05 (Note: XtremIO 1.05 devices are managed under the generic device class).
