Announcing EMC PowerPath 5.7 for AIX versions 7.1, 6.1, and 5.3
New PowerPath Release Supports AIX Operating Systems
versions 7.1, 6.1, and 5.3
PowerPath 5.7 for AIX ensures high availability and high performance path management across heterogeneous server, network, and storage in AIX environment.
Features include:
- Support for SCSI-standard ALUA (Asymmetric Logical Unit Access) and showing the ALUA state of all paths to storage systems running in ALUA mode. The new powermt display alua command shows the current ALUA state for the specified path(s) to an ALUA device.
- Expanded support for standby: powermt set autostandby. An autostandby feature has been added to the standby feature to automatically put paths into autostandby that have intermittent I/O failures (also known as flaky paths) and/or to automatically select autostandby for high-latency paths in VPLEX cross-connected Metro configurations.
- Support for disabling/enabling reactive autorestore. When reactive autorestore is on, PowerPath reactively tests dead paths and, if they pass the test, restores them to service.
- Path Management Insight (PMI) capabilities to help characterize I/O patterns and aid in diagnosing I/O problems.
- Support for Automatic Host-Array Registration. Host Registration for EMC arrays is a process that sends special I/O commands down each path to the array to register the initiators.
- Support for SCSI-standard ALUA (Asymmetric Logical Unit Access) and showing the ALUA state of all paths to storage systems running in ALUA mode.
