Boot From ScaleIO Volume?
Crazy question time.... Typically all our servers boot-from-san for their OS disks. Was wondering if anyone had attempted this with a ScaleIO volume. How did you go about it?

Andy is correct. The sdc is a kernel driver so needs the OS to already be installed and running on local disk. It isn't like FC where you see the lun at the HBA level before the system even boots into the os.

I wouldn't think this was possible - consuming the volume from scaleio is done via the SDC and that is a driver that loads into your OS. iscsi boot is possible when your host bios supports it, so unless your bios supported SDC/scaleio, there would be no chance.

Yes, completely agree. My morbid curiosity was just hoping someone had hacked something together just to see it work. No intent to ever do it in production. Thanks for the replies!
