best way to do host maintenance
Hi
What is the best way to take down one host from the scaleIO cluster in order to do some maintenance on it?
I will put the host in maintenance mode so the vm's will be migrated off - do i put the host in maintenance mode then in the scaleIO GUI ? and then reboot the host to do the maintenance ?
or is there any need to put it in maintenance mode in the scale IO gui ?
Once i bring the host back up then and take out of maintenace mode i will let the cluster rebalance and then start the same procedure one by one on the other hosts ?
does this sound right ?

Hi,
I am assuming that by "host" you mean an ESXi running SDS, is that correct?
There's a ScaleIO "SDS maintenance mode" you can put the SDS into, that will speed up the rebuild and rebalance. Once done, you can bring ESXi host into maintenance mode and perfom the reboots. Please note that both maintenance modes are different mechanisms and completely unrelated.
And yes, your procedure seems OK - please remember to have only single SDS down at a time.
Cheers,
Pawel
