Hi,
These are the latest System Upgrades and Perc 2/si drivers and firmware (if installed).

Hi Mark,
I'm also attempting a clean install of a PowerEdge 2400. I received it from my workplace and the IT dept. had "scrubbed" it and reformatted the 4 SCSI hard drives prior to my possession. It is/was configured for RAID5, but to date I can't even get this server past the BIOS NOT INSTALLED message. Where exactly do I begin with installation of drivers, BIOS, etc?
I've downloaded all the latest drivers, et al according to your previous post. Is the installation order correct? Does it matter?
Thank you for any & all advice you can offer.
Regards,
Wadster

Hi,
I apologize for the delay in this reply, I have been on vacation.
The "SCSI bios not installed" message is a normal informational message. The bios will only install on the first bootable media found at post. Normally this is the hard drive. When you put a bootable cdrom, then the bios will install on that controller.
Will the server boot to a floppy? If not there is a hardware problem, the "SCSI bios not installed" message is just a coincidence, just the last message on the screen when the machine stops.
If the server will boot to the floppy, load the System BIOS, then ESM Firmware, then Perc firmware.
Have you recreated the Raid container? If not, this link should help out:
http://docs.us.dell.com/docs/storage/romb25/3Di-IG/ccu.htm#1058993
Next boot to the Win2000 CDrom, and press F6 when prompted to load the Perc driver. The installation should proceed smoothly.
Thanks for using the Dell Community Forums!

Thank you for your help on this Mark.
I was able to finally get everything up and running after purchasing the Dell OpenManage Software package from Dell Parts you had suggested in another posting. The "Server Assistant" did all the work for me. Well worth the $50 and potential soon-to-be accompanying grief.
This board has really helped me with a series of differing dilemmas and I thank you all for it.
