PowerEdge 2950 Perc 6i Raid Bios issue

.Hi all

I have a Dell PowerEdge 2950 and when you power it on and press CRTL R to load the integrated raid bios it comes up with the below message (screenshot) and the raid bios config utility does not load at all.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Current BIOS version 2.7.0 / 2x 146gb 15k SAS drives installed (blank). The Integrated perc controller is set to Enabled in the system bios

Many thanks

Jamie

Hello

If hardware is failing to load then you should start disconnecting hardware from the system to troubleshoot. If there is an issue with one of the hard drives or the backplane it could cause the controller to not properly initialize. I would start by disconnecting the data cables from the PERC.

If you are still unable to enter the PERC BIOS with the data cables disconnected then I would disconnect all other unnecessary hardware from the system. If the issue still persists then the PERC should be replaced.

Before replacing hardware I would update all firmware and BIOS throughout the system. If the PERC is not fully initializing then you may not be able to flash the firmware. Even if the PERC is at the latest firmware I would try to reflash it before replacing.

Thanks
