R710 2nd PERC causes high fan rpm
I have installed a PERC H800 alongside the already installed PERC 6/i.. Before installing the H800 the server was quiet, fans ran very low. After installing the H800 the fans run at 11-12K RPM all the time. Nothing else changed except the addition of the second PCI card. Is this normal? Is there anything I can do reduce the fan RPM?
BIOS version of the R710 is 6.4.0, firmware version 1.98
Firmware version on the H800 is 12.10.7-0001
Firmware version on the 6/i is 6.3.3-0002 ,A-00

Found this, which is encouraging, but the raw IPMI codes don't work for the r710

I am considering this matter closed. I spoke with Dell support through chat, turns out this server was still eligible for support. They suggested at first that it was a temperature issue, which is obviously was not as the environment has not changed for this server in over a year. They also suggested that I move the card to PCI-E slot #3 per their engineer. Apparently they have slot priority guidelines. I'm not sure if it was moving the card that did the trick or the fact that I had to power down the system to move it, but I was able to get all the fans (even the PSU fans) down to a sane level. Just so there's no confusion, here are the commands I used:
ipmitool raw 0x30 0x30 0x01 0x00 (This allows you to override the system controlled fan speed)
ipmitool raw 0x30 0x30 0x02 0xff 0x2c (This changes the fan speed, the last hex value has a range from 0x00 to 0x46. I found that 0x2c is around 6K RPM and fairly quiet but still allows adequate airflow to cool the system)
I'm still not sure why a DELL RAID card that is approved to be used in this server model would cause this. I've already put far too many hours into trying to fix this, so I'm going to live with running these two commands in a cron on reboot. Yes, they have to be run every time the system is power cycled.

This is somewhat helpful, but it doesn't work on the 710, I assume a different HEX sequence would though.

I found this post helpful and was able to use the following command locally to reduce the system fans to a tolerable level:
ipmitool raw 0x30 0x30 0x02 0xff 0x02
The post I linked had the last hex value as 0x46 which I figured was a value for the fan speed. I slowly reduced it until I had the fans running around 1500rpm. The problem I face now is that the PSU fans are still at 100% and super loud. I either need the raw values to control those fans OR the raw values to completely disable the "third-party PCIe card cooling response"

Has there been any update to this at all?
I am experiencing the same issue. I updated to the latest BIOS 6.6.4 and firmware of the PERC H800 and iDRAC, but it’s still going super crazy.
