Oracle host based DIF
It's heard that EMC, Oracle and Emulex will provide a full end-to-end data integrity validation solution to prevent data corruption. For every 512 bytes data, a 8 byte DIF is generated for protection. 8 bytes DIF is already been used to ensure data integrity on VMAX and VNX array. It's expected that 8 bytes DIF will be calculated and compared on every read and write by host, HBA and storage array which will effectively prevent data corruption.

Very good presentation for applying EMC FAST VP on Oracle with more performance and less cost. Also very good explanation on Silent Corruptions (T10 PI Model) protection to minimize time spent on Root Cause Analysis of data correction and DB recovery.
520 bytes of 512 bytes of DATA and 8 bytes (16 bit CRC, 16 bit TBD and 32 bit reference tag) PI.

Jingyi:
The testing of the end-to-end Data Integrity Solution is now finalized and documented in a white paper that can be found here:

Hope this helps,
