DNFS and Standard Edition

Can anybody definitively say that Oracle Standard Edition supports DNFS? Have searched online but can't find a definitive answer.

Dave

I can find no definitive statement from Oracle that DNFS is limited  to Enterprise Edition except with  Oracle RAC.

Here is the original whitepaper

http://www.oracle.com/technology/deploy/performance/pdf/directnfsclient_11gr1_twp.pdf

All the documentation I have found on DNFS refers generically to Oracle 11G with no exclusion of Standard Edition.  (Exception: Configuring Oracle RAC with  Standard Edition requires ASM storage). This could imply  that a single instance database using DNFS can be configured with Oracle Standard Edition.

There is one unpublished bug covering DNFS with Oracle Standard Edition on Windows 6455284: DNFS NT: ORA-27300,ORA-27301,ORA-27302: FAILURE OCCURRED AT: SKGPALIVE and referred to in  MyOS Document [ID 1378762.1].

There is also an older EMC whitepaper  which states “Oracle 11g DNFS is a free product option that ships with the Standard Edition and Enterprise Editions”.

Just to be sure I emailed the metaphorical  horse mouth and Kevin Closson has confirmed it is available and supported.

Thanks for that Allan, equine comparisons aside!
