BCA2320 follow up question: 25 vCPU sweet spot in vSphere 5

First, let me say I really enjoyed most of the BCA2320 presentation at VMworld. I've seen Jeff present numerous times and always found him entertaining and educational. This was (I think) my first time seeing Sam present and it was also excellent.

After seing the presentation and then reviewing it this past weekend, I've got a number of follow up questions.

First one:  On Slide 59, the Oracle RAC 11g sweet spot for CPUs is at 25 - this on a vSphere 5 host which can scale to 32 CPUs.

What is meant by this? What degrades in performance (or in scaling) that makes 25 vs say 32 the sweet spot? Are you basing this off a high %RDY in resxtop? Or maybe TPC transaction level? Or... ?

The presentation was focused on Oracle RAC performance - do you see this same 25 vCPU sweet spot in a non-RAC instance?

Sweet spot is really only identifiable through testing based on the combination of hardware, workload and environment.  For the solution below we did on vsphere 4 (8 vCPU limit), a synthetic OLTP workload  and Dell R910s we found our own sweet spot through a combiation of CPU usage  and TPS.
