Nvidia on Optiplex 7040 SFF, 7060 SFF and 7070 SFF
I put this question one month ago, but it’s impossible to give answers on this location to any question.
Due to a lack of answers from users, I bought and installed the video card myself, in the hope it will work. The answer is Yes ... PNY NVIDIA Quadro P400 low profile card works fine within Optiplex 7040, 7060 and 7070 SFF. The installation process of the hardware and software was easy and without any problems. The connected three Dell Ulrasharp 24"monitors are working fine.

hark the first ever post not a problem , wow,(near)
most cards do work in a x16 slot most PCs, ONLY TRYing PROVES this, there are 1000s of others doing the same thing, \\ nice brave act, there. (buy from Newegg and can try many times, sure)
answered vast times, ever search>? one more time... for you.
For #3, most tellers will say use GT1030 (20W)so as not to overload the slot. on many SFF weak PCs
but you'd have to run full 3d bench marks at full load to prove it really does work 2D proves nothing..
there ARE like 10,000 cards to try, 12, makers vast versions of cards sold nobody tests them all, wow impossible. 15 YEARS or never, even one card has 10 flavors or more, ram, speed , jacks, etc etc.
but here is what works, in the real world..( all 7040 class types not just SFF)
run Furmark, (free yet) see if it crashes?
not only that but picking a card that YOU like is super complex.
speeds? FPS ,etc.
resolutions,
textures
Vram size needed (like video rendering)
noise? too load get 1 fan card.
using more than one monitor (yah Vidoe is complex) or DP daisy-chaining them?
and more, lots more things important TO VIDEO;/GRAPHICS NEEDS. EVEN DX12 ETC.
go to new egg.com, and to GPU cards
look on the left side, SEE ALL THAT STUFF, yes, complex endless choices, all important to most buyers.

Since its low profile and a 30w card it likely works fine.

Wow ... why to do something easy if you can do it also difficult.
We are talking about Optiplex computers ... good for office applications ... nothing more, nothing less.
The questions on this forum are mainly very simple ... does an replacement or upgrade works with my computer ... and the answers are often like misty mornings.
My advice is to keep support short and simple.

Not sure if you're referencing a specific generation or not, but check out "Optiplex gaming rigs" on YouTube.

I am being offered a Dell Optiplex 7040 SFF. I intend to use it for golf simulation, ie. a whit ball flying over trees and ponds and such, pretty detailed. However, the 7040 only takes low profile GPU and the PCIe sits really close to the power supply. Can you please tell me what "width" a graphics card can be in the 7040, ie. the distance between the PCI and the power supply? I can not find this info online. Also, what are you using the Nvidia P400 for, ie what kind of action and detail, it might work fine for me. Thanks, bjasi (first post).

Thank you for your input. I have just installed my 1 GIG QuadPro P400 V2 PNY card. I bought it on amazon for 79 dollars and it delivered in three Business days. It fits perfect. One of my three monitors came right up after putting in the power cord and booting. The card also includes three DP to mini DP adapters. I just have to install the drivers and configure monitors. Thanks for you help. Peace Out
