Dell optiplex 755 sff,GPU upgrade

  • I wanted to upgrade my GPU on my Dell optiplex 755 from a gt 1030 to a Rx 6400 is that possible?

This forum page should help. The 755 SFF PCIe x 16 slot is only rated for 25W so the RX 6400 will not work as it draws 53W. This page at Amazon has a picture of the MB and it is clearly stamped 25W.

low profile rx6400 for sff case seems to be 1.5 slot width. Physically it may not be able to fit 755 sff which has very tight space.  only thin single slot width card may fit

The cpu in 755 (core 2) is also too slow for gt1030 or rx 6400.  cpu will bottleneck the gpu.  if you are getting poor fps now in gt1030 it is because of old slow cpu.  upgrade gpu won’t help.

otoh the 25w print on motherboard stems from the small oem psu in sff. if you upgrade psu which has to sit outside sff case, it can support a gpu up to 75w tdp without PCIe connector.
