You have to buy a jumper or use wire wrap to jumper pins 7 and 8 together. Or bridge the pins together with solder on the underside.

This video may help. Not in English (Spanish I believe..which may be fine depending on your region) but the steps are easy to follow.

Speedstep shows the fix much better than the video. And if you choose jumpers you can find them here as well as a number of sources.

I can confirm that for the Precision 3640, jumpering pins 7 and 8 does not work.

Precision 3640 is not the same as 390 790 990 3010 7010 9010 3020 7020 9020. 3640 is worse because there are ribbon connectors now instead of pins and headers for some cables AND there is no I/O shield its built into the case.

The Precision 3640 has the same connector as illustrated above for this, so it’s at a point where I’m even wondering whether there is such thing as a defective jumper!
However, there is one huge difference. Without the cable attached, it doesn’t have the F1 to continue option. It has F1 to retry the boot.

Maybe short out the pins using something metal?

Is there anything else I can use that I don’t have to pay for, for the front panel error to go away. I switched the case into a modern case and I have this error.
