vSphere Web Client issue

Hi All

I've just installed openmanage for vcentre in a new 2-host vsphere 5.5 cluster.

If I access OpenManage from the fat client everything is fine, I review host information, apply updates etc.

BUT if I try to access openamange from the 5.5 web client I get "A Web server communication error occured, wait a few moments.... reboot appliance....contact support"

I've rebooted everything (hosts and all!) but this has not made a difference. Any ideas please?

Thanks

Thanks for your post

I like to know few things

1)is the vCenter  registered using FQDN?

2)can you please make sure DNS entry for vCenter is proper.

3)you can try restarting the vCenter webclient service.

Please let me know if this helps.

Regards,

Bhaskar AB

Hi thanks for your reply...

1) No, it is not registered using FQDN

2) Yes, the DNS entry is correct

3) I have tried this, no better

Hi Kris,

It is recommended to register vCenter using FQDN.

Can you try this,

  1. Unregister vCenter.

  2. Restart ‘VMware VirtualCenter Server’ and ‘VMware vSphere Web Client’ service.

  3. Register vCenter using FQDN.

let me know how it goes.

Vineeth

Kris,

Thanks for trying the suggested steps and updating the result.

Let us try to do clean uninstallation and start from beginning,

  1. Launch https:// /mob -> Content -> ExtensionManager.

  2. Under Properties table, following will be listed,

    ["com.dell.plugin.OpenManage_Integration_for_VMware_vCenter"]

    ["com.dell.plugin.OpenManage_Integration_for_VMware_vCenter_WebClient"].

  3. Click on ‘UnregisterExtension’ at Methods table , copy above string and invoke the method.

  4. Result of the method will look like ‘Method Invocation Result: void’

  5. Repeat the above step for both the strings.

  6. Launch OpenManage Integration for VMware vCenter console and unregister vCenter.

  7. Restart ‘VMware VirtualCenter Server’ and ‘VMware vSphere Web Client’ service.

  8. Make sure DNS entry for vCenter is proper (Make sure reverse and forward DNS lookup for vCenter is proper, vCenter hostname is not pointed to multiple IP’s etc.).

  9. Register vCenter using FQDN.

  10. Try accessing OpenManage from Web Client.

let me know how it goes.

Regards,

Vineeth
