OMIVV 3.0 - "Unsupported Hypervisor" errors, can't update multiple hosts firmware on M610 / ESXi 5.5 U2

We just updated OMIVV to 3.0 release.

We are having problems with 3 hosts in our infrastructure - all M610's running ESXi 5.5 U2 P55.  All hosts report strangely in OMIVV.

- "Unsupported Hypervisor" is reported in the "Check hosts for compliance" screen.

- We can update firmware on individual hosts, but updating multiple hosts at the cluster level does not work at all.  The firmware inventory page displays nothing.

All other features seem to work fine on these hosts and all of our M620's are not acting in the same way in OMIVV.  All firmware is quite up-to-date already on all hosts.

Hi eltuga,

Officially the 2950 is not supported by VMware to run vSphere 6, see http://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/search.php?deviceCategory=server

Furthermore the Dell OpenManage Integration for VMware vCenter also does not support the 2950 anymore see the Compatibility Matrix http://topics-cdn.dell.com/pdf/dell-mp-vc-3.0_Concept%20Guide_en-us.pdf

I am having the exact same issue.  Any resolve on your own or from Dell?  Thanks.

Hi:

No resolution either way.  I believe it to be a bug.  I dread making a call into ProSupport for this, so have not done so.  Hoping they know about it and address it in a point release.

For 11G server esxi 5.5 u2 is supported from 3.0 on wards.

Are you able make it compliant after hitting make compliant button if not what is the problem you are facing

I must say that after about a week of fiddling with this Dell Integration product, I finally got it working. It took multiple reboots of the vCenter and Dell OMSA VAs, but now at least I have the Dell icon appearing both in the web client and the regular client.  But, the issue remains that I cannot upgrade the firmware - which I now believe is because the older servers are just too old.  I have a PE 2900, 2950, and T310.  The T310 would show the firmware button NOT grayed out, the older ones it is grayed out.  i did find that elsewhere in the documentation after an internet search, so I am aware that the older machines cannot be firmware patched with this Integration product.  My problem is that I can't get either of the older 2900 or 2950 to boot off of CD or DVD to run the server update utilities, and I need to do that to update the DRAC firmware.  This integration product was my last hope, but apparently it too doesn't support the older machines.  My 2900 runs way faster than my T310, and it's 5 years older.  Not good of Dell to not support this function.  Using these older boxes for VM hosts is popular, so it should be possible to patch them with this product.  Also, I will add that all of my hosts are 5.5 and fully patched (latest rev) and I'm running the 3.0 version of your integration product.

Hi:

The issue is NOT resolvable by clicking on Fix non-compliant hosts.  CSIOR is On, but it says 'Unsupported Hypervisor' under 'OMSA Status'.  All Fix non-compliant hosts does in this particular instance is run an inventory scan and that's it.

I have also an issue after deploying vSphere 6.

I have all the up-to-date OMSA agent installed and the Dell Management Plug-in for VMware vCenter.

The 'Non-compliant vSphere Hosts' still reports OMSA Status=Unsupported Hypervisor.

Dell plugin is visible on the vcenter client, but not on the web client.

But I can still see and do almost all tasks, except firmware updates (options are dimmed)

I'm also using Dell PE2950 hosts

No compliance issues while using vSphere 5.5
