OMIVV 3 - ISO Deployment for host iDracIP xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx was unsuccessful

Hi All,

Vcenter 5.5

Target is an R530 with Dual SD card.

Reference server is R530 for the Hardware profile

Hypervisor profile is ESXi 5.5u2 (Dell ISO) which is on a share on the vcenter server. Credentials checked. Account has permissions to the share.

Builds the RAID (although only RAID 1 even though custom was selected from a RAID 6 setup)

Sets the BIOS configuration

Sets the boot order

Fails the ISO.

Lifecycle log shows successful login as root using WS-MAN on the target. I also see deployment ISO service entries.

OMIVV and Vcenter are off-site but we have a 20mb link.

Where should I look ?

Cheers

Ian

Bypassing our Riverbed Steelhead WAN accelerators allowed things to progress further. Because of the architecture we have (out of path) the inbound connections appear to come from the data center Steelhead rather than the source address when accelerated.

It now starts loading the ESXi installer on the target - but fails with Error 33 (inconsistent data) loading sb.v00

This seems to be quite a large file - and seems to be the first large file during boot.

Our WAN link from the OMIVV appliance and the target is a 20MB link with 15ms ping times.

I gather the target net boots the ISO ? Is the source the appliance or does the target somehow mount this from the SMB share I have it shared from ? i.e. will moving that image local improve things ?

OKay, so I rebuilt OMIVV on the local network where the target is. I seems happier even though this is remote to vcenter (which the documentation recommends you install it near).

Now the ESXi installer starts loading a lot faster - but it fails with an Error 6: (Buffer too small) on either net_bnx2.v00 or another networky module.

ISO matches MD5 hash. Have tried A00, A02 and A03 versions of Dell Customised 5.5u2 images.

About to give up using OMIVV to deploy as doing it manually is MUCH faster and less problematic.

Anyone got any ideas ???
