OMCI 8: The DSM SA Data Manager service terminated unexpectedly

Dear Dell Support,

We have several Win7Pro x64 PCs that are having problems with the OMCI client stopping.

We are using OMCI v8.0.1.150, A00.

We are experiencing these problems on both OptiPlex 960s and 990s.

We are still troubleshooting this with no luck as of yet.

In some cases, restarting the PC will fix the client for a little while.
Then, when checking back later, the client is in the stopped state and will not restart.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Chris

Any luck on this?  I've got a handful of different models where the DSA SA Data Manager service will not start.  I receive 'Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly.'  I'm running 8.1.1 x64 across the board.

Is there an update on dsm_sa_datamgr64.exe crashing?  I'm using 8.1.1 on Windows 7 x64.

Can you help check if the issue is similar to the following issue

http://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/systems-management/f/4494/p/19496670/20321947.aspx#20321947

Also please provide details of the BIOS version and any other hardware version that helps debug the same.

I have the same issue on Windows 7 X64 Pro OA SP1 - Dell Precision T3500. I have installed OMCI 8.1.1 x64. I also receive 'Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly.' .  I am troubleshooting this issue for about 14 days with no luck yet. The BIOS version is A16. Hope finding here a solution, I have 40 more Workstations that are waiting for a solution :).

Andrei

Hi, we are getting the same issue running Windows 7 x64 Enterprise SP1 on Dell Optiplex 960 with dual monitors. We are also running OMCI 8.1.1 x64. The BIOS is A17.

I can also confirm that this issue is also occurring with the 8.2 release. I did a complete uninstall of 8.1 and then installed the new version.

These installation reports completed successfully but when it tries to start the service we get the following error in the event logs

I have just finished testing OMCI 8.2 and the error is the same: 1067.

Yesterday I made a script to erase the EDID values, and it does when I run it manualy. I have created a TASK to run the script at STARTUP with a 2min delay and I configured the "DSM SA Data Manager" service to restart at failure also with 2 min delay. This is a ugly way of doing the service to run.

PS: I do not know why, but it does not work at every restart. Still testing...

any progress on this matter?

I had this error a while ago on OptiPlex 7010, Windows 7 SP1 (x86) when testing OMCI 8.1.1.79 and decided to wait for next OMCI.
Today I tried again with OMCI 8.2.1.70 on OptiPlex 790 and OptiPlex 7010 but still got same error:

The DSM SA Data Manager service terminated unexpectedly (Service cannot be started)

Still getting it on the latest version.  Last I heard, the developers were unable to reproduce the issue.  They should come to one of our sites!  I have 9 machines with dual monitors not working at the moment.  However, it's not all dual monitor machines, just some.  The kicker is that single monitor systems don't have the problem.

I posted technical details in this thread:
http://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/enterprise-client/f/4709/t/19496670.aspx

Should I open a ticket with those details?

We've been able to reproduce some OMCI issues with dual monitor configurations.

Please review your system event log for error entries from the SA Data Manager/OMCI.  OMCI collects monitor data and if it is having issue gathering that from your dual monitor configuration, it should be reporting that in the event log prior to a service failure.

Also, make sure you are opening a formal support ticket so that we can get the details captured and ensure that it gets corrected.

Yes, if you haven't found an answer from discussions here, you should open a support ticket.

There are TWO Issues with the 64bit installation and distribution:

#1 – Reg Key is the 32bit vs. 64 bit for SNMP:

                Installer:              HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Dell Computer Corporation\OpenManage\DataEngine\SNMP Agent\CurrentVersion

                Pathname:          C:\Program Files\Dell\SysMgt\dataeng\bin\dsm_sa_snmp32.dll

CORRECT:

                Installer:              HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Dell Computer Corporation\OpenManage\DataEngine\SNMP Agent\CurrentVersion

                Pathname:          C:\Program Files\Dell\SysMgt\dataeng\bin\dsm_sa_snmp64.dll

#2 – MAJOR issue the C:\Program Files\Dell\SysMgt\omsa\bin\dcsbpp64.dll is the 32 BIT, not the 64 Bit.  Simply Delete or Rename the dcsbpp64.dll file and the service will start and SNMPWalk will work.
