PowerEdge T710 - Status of the DIMM is critical
Outwardly, our PowerEdge T710 appears to be running fine, however, it failed hard on a recent backup, so I began looking more closely at the hardware which no one has done in years.
Dell Online Diagnostics Version 2.16.0 reports that Memory Device 05, Status, Status of the DIMM is critical. Additional Information: DIMM_A6: 2048 MB DDR3 Registered. Location: Memory Device 05.
There are four DIMMs in the server. If Memory Device 05 is removed (or 05 and 04), will the server still function? I can get by okay with 4GB RAM.
BTW, what Dell program is best to download to manage and see the configuration settings of the RAID controller? I want to make sure the RAID is healthy.
Oh yeah, DOD said everything else is the server is fine, expect the old RAID Controller battery is not holding a charge over 24 hours.
Thanks!!
