PET310 with Event ID 2319

Hello,

We have a PET310 server with an EventID 2319 error. I understand that this error is a DIMM error on the RAID card. The RAID card is a PERC 6/I. How can I tell if the DIMM is field replicable? Part Number?

Thank You,

Ron

Rgabaree,

The first thing I would start with is to power down the server and then swap the dimm with another within the server. This will let us know if the issue resides in the dimm, or the slot it is in. If you swap the dimm and the error follows it then it is the dimm causing the issue. If you swap and the error remains then it is the slot. The part number for the dimms the server shipped with is pn DM0KY.

Let me know if this helps.

So, are the DIMMS field replaceable? How many of them shipped with the unit? The pictures I have seen indicate that there is 1 DIMM and it is soldered to the RAID controller.

I apologize, I misunderstood the question before. The Perc 6/i raid controller dimm is indeed soldered to  the card and if it is out the card would need to be replaced.

So....you are asking me to replace a DIMM that is soldered on the RAID card? I don't understand your recommendation. If this error is directly tied to the DIMM on the RAID card doesnt it mean that the RAID requires replacement?

Could I ask you to tell me again what you would recommend doing?

I was stating that if the dimm is failed the card itself would require replacement, not the dimm.

If I replace the PERC card with an identical PERC will it read the drive configuration and operate? Can you tell me the exact PERC card I need to look for? Do you have model? Does Dell still sell them or do I need to look at after market?

If you replace the card with a matching Perc 6/i it will not automatically know the configuration. It will show as a Foreign Configuration, because the controller will recognize that there is configuration data on the drives, but not the controller. In order to use the configuration information on the drives you will need to IMPORT the Foreign Configuration, that will tell the controller to use the drives configuration data.

The part number for the Perc 6/i is T774H , I am not showing them available, but Spare Parts (1-800-357-3355.) may have them.
