the router provides a firewall automatically.   unsecured means that encryption is not enabled over the wireless component

Hi,

The reason why it says "unsecured network" is because your netgear double firewall router does not have a network key (password). A "unsecured network" is opened to other people. Other people can access and use your internet connection without your consent. There is a risk of exposing your private information through this unsecured network. You must installed a network key in order to have a security-enabled wireless network and prevent other people from stealing your information. Look on Dell.com for instructions.

Are you accessing your router wirelessly with the 1350 device? Unsecured network means you are not using any security on your wireless connection.

The firewalls are set up, but the wireless security is not set up.  Firewalls prevent access from the internet.  Wireless security prevents someone from driving down your street and accessing the internet and the files on your computer through the wireless connection.  In other words, you set up wireless security so that your own wireless computers can access the wireless network but keep everyone else off and keep them from intercepting the data as moves through the airwaves.  Read the manual that came with your router.
