Network problem with Dell Inspiron 1545
I have just bought a laptop, i factory reset it and now it shows up as connected to my home wifi but when i try to browse the web it just says its unable to connect to the internet. When i press the diagnose bit on that page it says it cannot find any problems. I have (ithink) updated all the network drivers but i really do not know what i am doing to be honest and am at a total loss. Can anyone pleaee help me? I know nothing about laptops sorry.

Hi, thank you for your response. No i have not managed to solve this. It does say i am connected to the internet. I have got onto the IP Config page. Is there a way that i can send a pic to you of the page i have in front of me? Ipv4 address: 192.168.1.155 is that what you mean? It does also say IP Routing Enabled: No is that right? I have a pic of the whole page if there is a way to post a pic to you. Many thanks

Hi again
Thank you for your input, sounds like you are connected if you are getting IP 192.168.1.155
so only thing that is making me think its happening is try connecting laptop to LAN - wired and download another web browser but before that go to control panel WINDOWS FIREWALL and disable sounds like you are being blocked.
when you did ipconfig try ping www. yahoo . com ( without spaces) and see if you get replies
Hope that helps

Hi, just checked and firewall is turned off already for some reason. I did try to connect via ethernet and it said the network adaptor "local area connection" does not have a valid IP address . So i was a little stumped aas what to do next.

I typed ipconfig /flushdns exactly like that and it said the requested operation requires elevation. I will try the yahoo now and then try unplugging router

Hello
Not sure if you solved your issue yet, but your issue sound very strange
Couple questions
- When you connect to you home wifi does your laptop say CONNECTED?
- If yes go to start , RUN type CMD and type in ipconfig /all is there an IP 192.x.x.x on wireless adapter?
- If yes unplug your modem / Router and wait 30 seconds, plug back in
for better results restart your laptop also once modem / router procedure is complete.
Hope that helps

It says i am currently connected to unidentified network access local only but i still cant connect to internet and it says that there may be a problem with one or more network adaptors

stubborn little laptop,
which Windows Version are you using
7, 8.1 or 10?
If you go to control panel into device manager what devices do you see under network adapters?

Hi again
You got the wrong guy I don't believe we should throw out any technology. I feel bad but I am leaving for Maryland tommorow and won't be back till next week. Can you please wait for me, this laptop should work. I am not ready to give up yet.
