Have you heard any more on this item? I have the exact same issue. 2 networks at work b and ac work fine. 2 networks at home 2.4G and 5G work fine. When I connect to iphone hotspot, it connects and says everything is fine. Even shows iphone has 1 connection running. IP address shows up in cmd window. Then I go to browse internet and get the limited connection. I try to ping yahoo.com or mcafee.com and it says no network connected. is going on with this thing?

This may be something you need to take up with your cellular carrier. They may be detecting that requests are coming from a full computer and not a tablet, and blocking them.
I had to either root my android or buy a program called FoxFi to use my Galaxy S5 and the Droid 3 I had before that as a mobile hotspot. Otherwise Verizon would redirect me to a page saying that I needed to pay a premium service charge to use mobile hotspot.
