U2422HE, HP EliteBook, HP dock not working

Hi all,

I have an HP EliteBook and have bought an HP SB-C/A Universal Dock G2 USB-C and  two Dell U2422HE. I thought it was more or less just Plug in Play, but to my surprise nothing works? It says on the U2422HE that there is no signal coming in. I use the DP cables that came with the U2422HE. I have also tried with a HDMI cable didn't work either. Both U2422HE work as long as I don't go via the docking station. I have also tried using my MacBook but it didn't work either.

Does anyone know if there is a compatibility problem between U2422HE and HP docking stations?

Thanks in advance

This is unknown by Dell. Dell does not test our monitors on HP products. You should post the issue on the HP Forum.

Dear Chris,

I understand if Dell does not test the monitors on HP products but HP probably does not test their docking stations on Dell monitors either. I thought maybe there is someone helpful in this community (I have posted in the HP community as well) who recognizes my problem but maybe I should just get rid of the brand new Dell monitors and by new ones from HP instead. It should solve the problem, right?

Possibly. But you have confirmed that the Dell monitors work when connecting directly to the HP EliteBook. So that does point to the HP SB-C/A Universal Dock G2 USB-C as the fault device. I know on our docks that we offer drivers and firmware updates that correct issues. I am not sure about the HP dock?

There might be a compatibility issue, but you should also try the following troubleshooting steps to ensure it's not a configuration or setup problem:

1. Update your HP EliteBook's graphics drivers and the docking station's firmware.
2. Make sure the docking station is connected to your laptop via the USB-C port that supports video output (some laptops have multiple USB-C ports, but not all may support video output).
3. Ensure that the docking station is powered on (if it has a separate power supply).
4. Check if the monitors are set to the correct input source (DisplayPort or HDMI, depending on the cable used).
5. Try using a different set of cables to rule out any cable issues.
6. On your HP EliteBook, go to display settings and make sure that the monitors are detected and set to extend or duplicate the display.
