S2721GDF, upstream DP to HDMI
My S2721DGF is in use with a corporate laptop and my gaming desktop.
Laptop --> HP Z27u G3 monitor via USB-C -> S2721DGF via DisplayPort
Desktop RTX 2070 --> S2721DGF via HDMI and HP monitor via HDMI
The laptop/HP monitor are new, and I was previously connecting my desktop to the Dell by DisplayPort. I play games and want the FreeSync/G-Sync capabilities over DP so I tried using a Warrky 4K DisplayPort to HDMI adapter (4K capable) to connect the HP DP out to the Dell HDMI. It doesn't work, I just get a blank screen. I think the cable is detected but there is no signal detected. The adapter does work when I use it from the RTX 2070 DP out to the S2721DGF HDMI.
Is there anything I can do to be able to use the adapter to connect DP out to Dell HDMI? I was hoping it would work since the Dell S2721DGF is the last in the chain.

Update: I tried an active DP->HDMI adapter and it works, so I now have the setup I want:
Laptop --> HP Z27u G3 monitor via USB-C -> S2721DGF using DP -> HDMI adapter
Desktop RTX 2070 --> S2721DGF via DP and HP monitor via HDMI
The adapter that works for me: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01M6WK3KU

I was hoping somebody knew of a workaround to my problem. From the penultimate section of this blog:
https://www.barco.com/en/news/displayport-to-hdmi-conversion-should-i-use-an-active-or-passive-adapter
Laptop->HP monitor is USB-C so suspect this lack of DP++ support comes into play. The adapter I have is passive, sounds like an active adapter is worth trying.

The HP Z27u G3 User's Guide specifies that the second monitor in the MST daisy chain must be using DP in port.
