P3424WEB Monitor doesn't work correctly with MS Teams

My Dell P3424WEB is connected to a Dell Latitude 5430 and runs MS Teams but the sound and mic on the monitor randomly drop out and I get a 'try another device' message.  The only way to temporarily fix it is to switch to the laptop inbuilt speaker and mic.
It seems like a 'bug'.  Is there a fix?
