P3421W, switching input source via software
I'm looking to join the Dell family soon, and thinking of purchasing a P3421W.
I'm wondering what's the best way to be able to change input sources. I'll be using this monitor with both my home desktop and work laptop. So one connection would be through USB C, and the other through HDMI.
With the inbuilt KVM, there is no issue with my mouse and keyboard. But I'm wondering what is the best way to switch between input sources to the P3421W? I'm not really looking forward to manually pressing the buttons on the monitor every time I need to switch between sources.
I understand that DDM will provide for this functionality. However, would it still work well even if I don't have DDM installed on my work laptop? Am I able to still use keyboard shortcuts to toggle bi-directionally between my work laptop and personal PC?

Do I need Dell Display Manager on both devices, or would DDM on only one suffice, if I'm looking to use keyboard shortcuts to change input source for monitors?

Referencing this old thread, what about for monitors that should be able to switch from nonactive input source, like P3421W?

I'm able to use the keyboard shortcut to switch one way, from HDMI to USB-C. But when I try to use the same keyboard shortcut to switch back, the input does not change.
According to the user manual, this should not be the case.

Did you install DDM on both PCs and retest?
