P2419HC + P2419H, MacBook Pro, daisy chain with USB Type-C, #2
I also bought the U2719DC just to have the daisy-chaining option. And as it turns out - it doesn't work. Dear Dell, talk with Apple and solve this issue, PLEASE!
@jackb87 This isn't an issue that only affects Macs that are operating with Dell displays. There are plenty of non-Dell displays that offer daisy chaining support, and Macs won't work with them either. This is because Apple for whatever reason has decided not to support the DisplayPort MST standard in macOS, which means that you wouldn't be able to use daisy chaining with ANY brand of displays or use any type of MST hub (for displays that don't have built-in daisy chaining support). People have been complaining about this for years on Apple's forums, Dell's forums, Reddit, and elsewhere, and Apple hasn't budged. Ironically, if you use Boot Camp on a Mac in order to run Windows on it, then daisy chaining DOES work -- so it's not a hardware issue. It's just that Apple has chosen not to implement software support for it into macOS. There's nothing for Dell to do here because it's not an issue that's specific to Dell displays. This is entirely Apple.
