Monitor keeps going into Auto-Detect Energy Save Mode
I have a Dell 22" flat screen monitor that has a mind of it's own and it is becoming annoying. The monitor keeps going into Auto-Detect Energy Save Mode and I cannot get it back to 'life' without a hard shutdown of the computer and turning it back on. I just replaced the video card, that isn't the problem. It is 15 months old. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

rainsinger,
Does the issue occur when testing both DVI and VGA?

Chris, You are over my head here. I can add\remove stuff but that is about it. It does it when I am using the puter. I have to turn off the monitor and reboot the puter, then turn on the monitor to get it to display. Sometimes this doesn't work.. Thanks for your advice tho!

Do you see where the monitor plugs into the computer? Is it white or blue?

The monitor plugs into a white connector on the video card, It is a DVI I am told. It used to work okay, no problems.
Thanks for taking the time to help me out!

Does your video card have a blue VGA adapter to try? If yes, plug the monitor into it and then press the monitor Input Source Select button and change it to VGA.

My monitor started doing the same thing and it is just a couple of months old. My monitor is connected using the DVI input. However, for me the problem seems to be associated with the built in USB hub. If I unplug the down stream cable all goes back to normal, plug it back in it crashes. Anything else I do, unplug the monitor or a forced restart doesn't seem to help. The time intervals between monitor crashes is getting shorter and shorter, not a good sign.

Disconnect the monitor USB uplink cable from the bottom of the monitor and tell me if the issue continues. If no, reconnect the cable and do this -
* Open the Device Manager (Press the Windows key and the Pause-Break key, Click the Hardware tab and the Device Manager button)
* Click the + by the Universal Serial Bus Controllers
* Right click each USB Root Hub
* Click Properties
* Click the Power Management tab
* Remove any checks
* Click OK

I bought a new graphics card, uninstalled the old software and installed the new graphisc card and everything from scratch. Same thing kept happening, so I uninstalled the ATI sovtware and put the old graphics card back in. Reinstalled the software and no problems, been over a month now.

Sorry for the typos.. You also need to disconnect the power and cables from the monitor to the puter BEFORE you remove\reinstall your graphics card. You need to uninstall the graphics card software. Reconnect all cables to the puter and plug in your power cable. If it starts to go into the installing software automatically, cancel the install and load the software from your CD. Then when you are running look for updates. Hope this helps.

Man this doesn't look good
My specific model is E228WFP LCD Monitor
I am not that good in those things...
If you uninstall the graphics card, how can you install a new one? because then you don't see anything?
After startup I only have 10 min and then I only get the message 1:auto detect (digital input) just before it goes black.
hope someone can help

Thinking that if you don't know how to install a card inside the PC you should get some help.
One other option, if you have the graphics card CD with the software\drivers is to go to the control panel and uninstall the video card software program then reinstall the software (it might have gotten messed up), using your CD.
