LCD monitors: do they have refresh rates?

I know this sounds crazy, but I suffered a small brain injury two years ago due to the flicker of my TV set.  A doctor said I am extremely sensitive to any type of refreshed image, so I've been doing my best to find monitors and TVs that do not refresh, or have safe refresh rates.  My question is: do LCD monitors have refresh rates?  If not, if I installed a video card in my computer, would the card "give" the LCD monitor refresh rates?  What about active matrix TFT displays, like those on notebooks?  If both of these monitor types have refresh rates, is there ANY TV or monitor out there that I would be able to use without constantly worrying about my health?

No, Digital monitors or LCDs doesn't have "refresh rate" by definition. Only a pixel response time. When a pixel changes, it doesn't have to wait for the entire screen to be re-drawn (refreshed) in order to reflect the change.

Analog LCD would have a refresh rate, since it's basically using an LCD to simulate a scanning beam. It converts the digital signal to analog and then back again to digital at the monitor.

Thanks, Rache623.

Forgive me, I'm not exactly a techno whiz, but I still have a question.  Can you set the LCD monitor to be analog/digital?

Unfortunately not, an LCD has a digital connection only.

Thanks, I actually do have a GeForce FX 5200 installed.  Just to clear things up, the whole flicker-gave-me-an-injury thing was only a theory by a doctor, not a diagnosis set in stone.  But I'm still being cautious about my condition.

Perhaps I misunderstand your statement, but many LCD displays, including my 1901FP, have both digital and analogue connections. However, a video card with a digital interface in necessary to use the digital connection.
