Is my U2711 dying?
Reason line = Monitor model, short issue description
Body =
* What is the 20 digit alpha-numeric monitor serial number? CZ-0G606T-74263-05S-0UDL
* What specific computer model? self built
* What operating system? W10
* What video card? zotac 980ti
* Video card driver version? 368.39 (has persisted across numerous driver iterations)
* What video out ports are available on the video card? DP and HDMI
* What video out port are you using from the video card to what video in port on the monitor? have tried both DP and HDMI
* What cable are you using to attach the video card to the monitor? 1.5m cables (have tried multiple cables)
* What windows power plan? Example = High performance, PCI-e Link State Off - high performance
* Press the monitor Menu button to open the monitor OSD (On Screen Display). The bottom of that screen should show a resolution. What is listed? 2560x1440
* Was the monitor purchased from Dell or some reseller? Overclockers UK
Over the last few months my dell u2711 has intermittently begun to flicker with lots of fuzz for anything from 2 seconds to 30s, which I originally put down to driver issues, but I upgraded my gpu (AMD 290 -> nvidia 980ti) and the issue is still there, and seems to be getting worse, which sounds like a hardware issue. It happens on the desktop as often as it does in games, and thankfully it's my secondary display so it doesn't cause me horrendous trouble, but is irritating nonetheless.
See video of the issue below
Is this a sign that the old girl has finally had it (out of warranty of course), or is there hope yet?

That does not bode well. Try a power reset. If that doesn't fix it, it may not be worth the money to get it repaired locally. Plus, finding internal components will be difficult.
* Turn the monitor off
* Disconnect the monitor power cable and all other cables from the rear/bottom/side of the monitor
* If a mechanical monitor power button, press the button in for 30 seconds (clears any residual power in the circuits)
* Reconnect all cabling and retest

Yeah that's what I thought. I've tried that (left it unplugged overnight etc), so maybe it's time to start shopping!
