Latitude 7400 2-in-1 LTE/WWAN antenna missing/Retrofitting WWAN

Our 7400 2-in-1's were ordered without LTE/WWAN and we later realized they needed it. Adding a DW5821e is not the problem but the antenna cables are missing and so are (I guess) the actual antenna - bummer and we're looking for alternatives since we can't send the laptops back.

In many laptops, the LTE/WWAN antennas are fitted in the screen but I suspect this is not the case in the 7400 2-in-1 because of foldable screen and thin bezel so maybe there is a chance it can get retrofitted with just the right parts? Dell original or possibly some Ebay item with just an antenna. Not optimal but better than an external USB 4G stick.

I found this spare part that shows the WWAN antenna in the back (WLAN is in the front) of the keyboard but they're out of stock and not expected/guaranteed to get in the next couple of months. Dell PN seems to be MH5X5 or Alt P/N: EDB41_LOG_UP_SUB_ASSY_4_CELL_CAT
AM2CD000201

MH5X5b1

MH5X5d1

Any experience/ideas would be highly appreciated.

Hello JBOOOZ,

You would have to change the complete plamrest in order to get the WWAN antennas. I have checked the system specification and I see that WWAN  & WLAN antennas are a part of palmrest assembly. I have left you a private message requesting some more detail. You can reply me there so that I can assist you further.

Same as you, I try to fix it but I cannot find antenna cables either. Recently I discover that Alibaba has some WWAN cards with stickable antenna cables but it is for Lenovo laptops. Maybe we can try to attach antenna cables by ourselves. However, I don't know where to buy the sim card slot.

For anyone else reading this thread, 1.5 year later I at last found a spare in stock at a reasonable price for my Latitude 7400 2-in-1:

https://www.parts-people.com/index.php?action=item&id=31116

It includes the WWAN module so I didn't exchange my whole palmrest but rather just replace the part which contains the WWAN module. It took some time since all parts are very small but now I got working WWAN. Note that you also need the actual WWAN module - this is just the antenna.

This is the antenna I took from the above spare part:

In my laptop I just had the "plastic part" which I took out:

I am having this same issue with a latitude 7214. I have 2 different screen frames with 2 different antenna setups. I know how to set it up without the wwan card.  But I'm not sure how to configure it with the wwan card. Any help would be appreciated. Thank. Joseph.S

Also there is 1 extra antenna wire and a empty antenna wire connector on the docking connector.
