Latitude 5510, P2213 not detected

Fri, Jul 26
I have a Dell P2213 Color Profile, D65 Monitor with VGA/USP cable. It plugs and plays when plugged into my Dell Inspiron 15. But it doesn't work (monitor is not detected when connected) to my Dell Latitude 5510 (refurbished). I upgraded to Windows 11 and thought that may have been the problem. Because my Inspiron is an old computer and couldn't upgrade to 11 and the monitor plugs in and works with this laptop. However when I plug the monitor into the refurbished Dell Latitude 5510 it won't recognize the monitor. I've updated the driver and then tried to install an AMD Radeon R5 driver ('cause I saw that was installed on the Inspiron). But I get an error that there's no hardware and the driver won't install. :-(

You would obviously want the best performance at the lowest cost.  VGA is analog signal technology with inferior display quality.  It should be the last choice when nothing else available.  A USB-C (thunderbolt) to DisplayPort adapter/cable can give you the best display.  However, you must confirm that your laptop does have this option before getting the cable.  A low cost HDMI to DVI bi-directional cable can be on the table for consideration.

It's possible that you used incorrect connection type/cable.  Verify and use correct cable.

The video input ports on your P2213 monitor are:  VGA, DVI-D, and DisplayPort. (see picture below).

The video output ports from your Latitude 5510 are:  optional DisplayPort (left USB-C), HDMI port (right)

@Chino de Oro So you're saying the VGA/USB ended cable that works on my Inspiron laptop will not work on my Latitude laptop because I'd need a cable with one side as VGA and the other with optional DisplayPort (USB-C) or an HDMI port?
