XPS 15 9530 AC Adapter not Recognized

About a month after my warranty ended I started getting an error saying the AC adapter wasn't being recognized, the battery wouldn't charge, and the system was throttled.

I have 2 dell chargers and I find it hard to believe they both went out at once, so I'm assuming it's the laptop.  I don't believe it's the connection to the laptop (the center pin seems clean and intact), so it's probably whatever identifying circuitry (Dallas chip?) is on the motherboard.  Short of buying a new motherboard, can I buy a board/chip to swap out and potentially fix?  Or should I ditch the $2000 brick?

thanks,

Bart

Hello,

Thanks for writing to us.

As you said you tried two other good adapters even those weren't recognized by the system, looks to be a faulty connector.

Can you please check in BIOS the status of ac adapter and let us know.

Also on this model the charging port on the laptop is a separate parts which internally connects to motherboard. At first you can try replacing only the port, which needs a computer repair expert as its a complicated process, if its still the same, I am afraid motherboard is faulty.

It says unrecognized.  I guess I'll try to replace the connector.  Any chance you can tell me part numbers for connector and motherboard?

thanks
