The AC Power Adapter type cannot be determined. This will prevent optimal system performance

Hi, my Dell laptop is displaying this message when booting. the AC power adapter cannot be determined. This will prevent optimal system performance. Strike F3 key (before F1 or F2 key) if you do not want to see power warning message again. Strike F1 key to continue, F2 to run the setup utility. Can i get any support to solve this issue? Thank you very much, Sebastien Roupin +32499567668

You can try another adapter, but in all likelihood the system board is faulty. Hopefully the system is still under warranty; if it is not, you're in for a $400+ repair.

I am experiencing the same problem.  What would cause the system board to go out?  Also, would this cause other issues or just limit you to the ac adapter and work off the battery?  Please help, I'm 3 months out of warranty.

I started with this same exact error message!  Then the battery appeared to die.  Now, I have the following error message (when I turn the laptop on, after the Dell Logo & Windows XP Logo appear)  ...

STOP: c000007b {Bad Image}
The application or DLL \??\C:\WINDOWS\system32\basesrv.dll is not a valid windows image.  Please check this against your installation diskette.

I do not have an installation diskette!

I have not had use of that laptop for 7 DAYS NOW (it's my daughter's) ... it isn't even a year old.  I don't know what to do!?!
