Some of the data in Dell parts compatibility database may be incomplete or inaccurate

Hi,

I'm not sure I'm posting to a correct subforum, this is about laptop parts and upgrades and I saw a forum dedicated to those here, but people seem to discuss specific issues with their laptops and that didn't feel like the best place to post either. Feel free to move the post to a more appropriate place.

I was trying to figure out whether some of the Power Companions would be compatible with my laptop and a tool on Dell website has suggested basically two models:

  1. Dell Power Companion (12000 mAh) PW7015M (http://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/accessories/apd/451-bblz)
  2. Dell Power Companion (18000 mAh) PW7015L (http://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-power-companion-18000-mah-pw7015l/apd/451-bbkv/pc-accessories)

However, I have also found two related products with the similar model names (codes PW7015M and PW7015L included), and it basically seems to be the same thing as above, plus a power adapter in the same package, but their laptop compatibility list is widely different:

  1. Dell Power Companion (12000mAh) PW7015M and Slim Power Adapter - 65 Watt (http://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/accessories/apd/469-5275?ref=p13n_ena_pdp_vv&c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs)
  2. Dell Power Companion (18000mAh) PW7015L and Slim Power Adapter - 65 Watt (http://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/accessories/apd/469-5283?ref=p13n_ena_pdp_vv&c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs)

Why else do I think the database may be incomplete or inaccurate? The list of upgrades includes a battery (Dell part 453-BBBT) that would not physically fit into the laptop, at least according to a picture.

I've emailed Dell Sales support, but after a few days they told me to call or chat with sales reps directly and I think they would just look at the same compatibility database and tell me it wouldn't work or that they don't know at best.

That's why I'm trying to find a way how to reach somebody who may be able to actually verify the above and correct the database if found to be inaccurate. I would really like not to buy some generic replacements if I can avoid it...
