Smart Card Reader Help

there's another thread on this. basically you have to buy the card and software from a 3rd party.

what the fux? thats stupid!

I would say it suxs too.  I thought a smart card security was something that the laptop came with.  Something like if I remove the card, the laptop wouldn't power on or something. (Never had a smart card security)

And from a previous post I see it has the slot, but no software and no card.  To me thats like "comes with windowsXP"  Only to find out, its a 30-day trial and you need to buy the key.

This to me is not like asking for free dvds to play in the dvd player it comes with.  Nor is like asking for a 129mb memory stick with a memory stick reader as at least with that you get the software to run it.

I remember three years ago, when Dell included a blank CD-R in the box when we ordered Latitude with CDR drive.

Even now, when you buy a CD/DVD writer, you'll find a CD/DVD burner software, and a blank CD/DVD.

Purchasing either with software and card(s) is $40. Cannot beat that. Glad someone made that information available on the boards.

Yep, its no use to me without the card and the software.  No worries; it doesn't take up much room anyhow.

 

I installed American Express' software to read their Blue card with SC chip.  After a little messing with tech support to get a PIN, it works!  Of course, now I ask myself--what the heck will I do with this technology?  ha...

Does anyone have any comments on the software provided by txsystems.com?  Has anyone used it?  Any comments would help.  Thanks

Hey I just bought a notebook from Dell. It came with a smart card. I uploaded the software for the smart card however it is telling me that there is not a network in my area that it can connect to. How do fix this problem.  PLEASE HELP!
