Sd card slot STILL not working after dell "replaced" motherboard!

Ok now I am angry
 
 
Sent the computer off for repair after several robotic chat logs with the support service.  Got the laptop back, 1st thing that annoyed me was the one of the screws on the hard drive cover was stripped so had to take it to a computer shop to get it taken out.  Next thing the SD card slot STILL doesnt work.  Got back onto the support chat and they gave me the ususal "reinstall the drivers", which I had already done (R10592 for Inspiron 1405).  So i got back on and got another guy, he is saying its my drivers conflicting and is sending me a CD - Now I KNOW this wont work, so maybe one you people had the same problem, because the telephone help line is no good either!
 
I am pretty sure its the SD card slot that is kaput.
 
 
Any suggestions?

Are you sure it's not a bad SD card?  It seems strange that 2 new computers would have a bad reader.

No its not the cards.  I have tried several and they all work on my XPS and on the computer at work so no.  My wife has been on the phone to tell support for a total of 4 hours now, even got remote assistance to the laptop - they want to replace the motherboard AGAIN!!!!
