screen too dark

I have tried to lighten up the screen on my latitude D610 to no avail. Using the "adjusting resolution" option does no good. I just need more light. I'm sure it's something simple but I just don't know what the heck it is.

well i dont have a latitude but on my inspiron if you press FN-up arrow,the screen starts to brighten up.

jeez, i knew it had to be something simple. this really really worked. thanks! fyi, my lappy was a refurb and didn't come with an owner's manual. at least that's my excuse ;)
