Latitude C840 ac adapter error (70W is detected, but really is 90W)

I really need help on this:

When I bootup, a waring screen appears telling that 70W ac adapter was detected and the system requires 90W, then ask me to hit F1 to continue loading. I've just bought a new 90W ac adapter and the problem is there again!!

I noticed that battery is not charging propertly and when I disconnect the ac and plug back in, the same meesage appears again but this time the system freezes and need to reboot.

Please help to solve this... I'm very satisfied with my C840 and don't want to replace it by now.

help!!

Hi,

The problem is most likely your MBD. It could be the adapter, but that would be an easy fix. [ Murphy's law ]

My bios version is A132 (latest from DELL). Do I have to call a particular technician to test the mbd??

I'll apreciate any guidance to fix this problem by myself.

thanks in advance,

Then get the MBD replaced is the only solution for this issue?? Is there any diagnostic software from DELL to help me identify this problem??

Honestly, I was expecting more soonest - specific recomendations from this board.
