Is there a recommended way to remove keys from the laptop?
Occasionally things get under the keys. I have to remove the keys to get the material out from under the key. The plastic bits holding the key in place are so fragile they often snap when taking the key off, resulting in me purchasing new keys periodically. I had to buy new buttons that go under the touch pad, since something got under them. I had to take one out, but it broke in the process. I had to take the entire laptop apart in order to put the new mouse buttons in. I would rather not have to do this again, so is there a recommended way to take out keys without braking the fragile small plastic bits? Thanks

This tells me how to put a key on, not remove it safely.

Hi Johnnymushio,
Please refer the topic “Troubleshooting A Notebook Keyboard Key That Has Come Off” from this link: http://dell.to/10Xpoq7
Please checks if that helps, and reply for further help.

That's what I do. The plastic bits are so fragile they always break when I do that.

If there are damaged keys, replace the keyboard - then cover it with a keyboard skin to keep it clean. There's just about no way to reliably remove keys without breaking something - keyboards are just not designed to be taken apart.
