Inspiron 17 5767 Audio

Just bought this 17.3 inch notebook and all good so far except the sound which is absolutely horrendous.

Is there a fix for this or is it just that the internal speakers are inferior? I've tried changing from the Realtek audio driver to the system driver and although this allows a Bass boost option in the settings the sound is still awfully tinny. Very disappointed as Dell products are usually so good.

Sound is a subjective judgement. Since the speakers are in a laptop computer, I don't have expectations that they will perform like a dedicated sound system.  If you have not modified the basic internal speaker preset, it does sound a little tinny.  Have you been able to use the Waves UI to set a preset with equalizer settings you might like?  Have you tried picking the front of the system off its support to see if it sounds better?

There are setting for the internal speakers in the Playback section of the speaker icon UI.  Be careful not to cause a distortion by trying to use both.

A good set of headphones or external speakers might help and I prefer the Bluetooth version..

Make sure you are not listening to the communications version of the playback device.  It sounds like a telephone speaker with lower quality levels than what should be coming through the internal speakers.

Thanks Saltgrass. I didn't even know the Waves UI existed and this has made some improvement. I've had to double up by activating the equalizers on both my music player (Foobar) and the Waves Maxx Audio (had to search for this) for reasonable sound. I guess I'm used to my previous Dell Studio which must have had much better speakers (more bassy). Didn't realise this new machine would be  such a downgrade on that score. Something I'll get used to in time no doubt. Thanks again.
