Error File:\BCD 0xc0000098
When I turned on my laptop today, it stopped on a blue screen page RECOVERY, saying "Your PC needs to be repaired. The Boot Configuration Data file dosen't contain valid information for an operating system." Error message is File:\BCD 0xc0000098. Could anyone help me with this issue? Thanks

Hi ,
Thank you for writing to the Dell Community Forum.
With the stop code that you have mentioned I would suggest you to check this Microsoft link which advises certain set of instructions which might be of help . Alternatively I would recommend you to go to advanced boot options using the F8 menu (To go to advanced boot options restart the system keep tapping the F8 key then you should be able to see advanced boot options ) then choose last known good configuration where in you can roll back the windows settings to point where in the system was working fine .
I hope this helps ,do write to us if there are any more queries .
Kindest Regards ,

Hi,
Your response is appreciated.
I tried to press F8 when starting my laptop, but it didn't work. And I have refered to Microsoft, they suggested I reinstall the OS, however I don't have a recovery disk, even there is no disk driver on my alienware 13. I have searched websites for fixing the issue for a whole day, but none of them helped. I am so sad.
Could you please provide me more information about this? Thank you again for your generous help.
Best regards

If the system is under warranty, contact Alienware to have a recovery flash drive sent. If the system is out of warranty, you should still be able to request the recovery media but there will be a charge for sending it.
