Dell XPS 13 TrackPad Issues after Driver Update

After updating my XPS 13 Ultrabook's Cypress drivers to the newest drivers released yesterday on the Dell Support Downloads page, all gestures (Though still enabled) have stopped working. The trackpad itself still seems to work fine after the driver update, but no gestures work any longer. They all worked right before the update.

I've tried the normal set of enable/disable, reboot, update. But has anyone else had this problem or know how to resolve?

Thanks

Like has been said by another here - when I tried updating the driver, it totally disabled the keyboard and touchpad. Had to use external keyboard and mouse to remove the items from Device manager, and then reboot. Installed the latest driver from Dell, but still didn't have the touchpad options in the Control Panel Mouse section. Nothing for Cypress listed there. Tried previous driver versions, etc. etc. etc. to no avail.

Ended up having to do a system restore, but still missing 2 finger scolling, and don't have the "enhancements" that are supposed to be in the newer version.

I've spent about 2hrs+ on the phone and remote sessions with Dell XPS Support and Dell ProSupport - and we haven't got it solved.

DELL NEEDS to update the touchpad driver for the XPS13!!

(I influence the purchasing descisions on computer brands/models in our comapny; we currently have about 100 Dell laptops in the company; and I'm not recommending the XPS13 right now...)

Ben,

We were able to figure out how to get it updated properly without doing a rebuild. Here are the steps we did:

1. Download the latest A03 Cypress driver. Install it. Reboot.

2. Upon reboot keyboard and mouse will be disabled. Plug in USB keyboard and mouse and login as administrator.

3. Open up device manager.

4. There should be 2 devices that have errors (PS/2 Keyboard, and Cypress Touchpad).

5. Right click one and click "update driver software".

6. Select "Browse my computer for driver software"

7. Select the folder that files were extracted to. By default this is C:\Dell\Drivers\03PDC

9. Click next. It should say "Installing Drivers..."

10. Do this process for the other device.

11. Reboot computer and everything will be working (including Cypress icon, and software to configure mutil-gesture).

Not sure why it has to be done this way, but this is the only way we got it working without have to do a full system image.

I created another thread for this too...located here: en.community.dell.com/.../20193270.aspx

My extremely annoyingly overtouchy XPS13 trackpad has been seriously screwing up my computer experience, taking me all sorts of places I didn't want to go simply because I happened to hover over something for more than two milliseconds; therefore I ended up on this thread. So I decided to follow the advice about uninstalling and updating the trackpad.

I first deleted the driver, and then, following instructions, restarted my computer. On restarting I discovered not only that the trackpad still worked, but that it had lost all its annoying oversensitivity and become a nice, normal trackpad!

It's probably lost some of its special features in the process, like the 2-finger/4-finger swipe thing, but features like that don't interest me anyway.

So if you want to turn your silly, twitchy useless XPS13 trackpad into a fine upright hardware component that does its job properly, simply delete the Cypress driver - period!

It's worked for me.

i found that

Input_Cypress_W74_A06_Setup-19VRK_ZPE

Works very very well. just uninstall your current cypress trackpad, reboot and then install that one, and reboot again.

Cheers

OK, I tried it and found that, yes, the new driver works fine. I thought it was supposed to be capable of 2-,3-,4- etc finger swipe "tricks" though, but can't find a proper explanation anywhere.

Apart from a totally useless video on the Cypress website, I can't find any explanation of what those swipe functions are supposed to do. Just swiping and hoping for the best doesn't seem to do anything.

The 2, 3, 4  finger swipe works fine on my computer with that driver, but that is maybe because i run windows 8 RP on it.

Hey there. I have the only true working perfect driver for your machine. I tweaked and built it myself. Works like a charm. email me at Email id removed per privacy policy> or tweet me @rattlesomecages

MatthewAngel, aren't you being naive asking people to download and install something just like that?

The only naive thing is downloading Dell's useless drivers. I have it right but if you like you current driver and erratic trsckpad then good for you. If not i will only be nice for so long. If i see im easting my time, nobody will get the driver

Not asking anyine anything. Now nobody at this dell site gets my driver. Other people on respected forums are thanking me faster than i can say you're welcome. Im not a newbue here. I have a zillion posts complaining about the trackpad. So had you done your homework instead of being negative.....
