Dell Latitude 5520 - IDT High Definition audio codec - Audio control panel - Update version

Hello everybody,

Here is a quick description of my laptop :

Dell E5520 Latitude - Windows 7 64 bits SP1 - 8 GB Ram - Intel Core i3-2310M CPU 2.10Ghz - Intel HD Graphic 3000.

I would like to upgrade my IDT audio control panel which is the 1.06324.0. My IDT High Definition audio codec driver version is the 6.10.0.63.24 from 2011 :

In fact, I can not open the advance settings in my IDT audio control panel. When I put a click on the advance settings, nothing happens :

I see on the internet that some version of the IDT control panel are much more evoluate than mine :

Do you know how can I fix this poblem and where could I download the last version of the IDT audio codec driver and IDT audio control panel ?

Regards.

Do you know how can I fix this poblem

Hello Jean-Marc. Your IDT Control Panel is functioning normally. Your IDT audio driver can be installed in XP, Vista, and 7. The Advanced button was just there to fix a problem in XP. Windows 7 does not have the problem so the button does not do anything on your laptop that is running Win 7.

The button does not get you to the fancier control panel that you have seen on the internet. That fancier panel was only available at one time on certain much older models. However most of the features of the fancier control panel are just duplicates of what you can do in the Windows Sound properties (Control Panel>Sound), so you are not missing much, if anything.

where could I download the last version of the IDT audio codec driver

You can see all of the driver versions that are available on the E5520 html page. Dell does not use IDT anymore so I doubt that there will ever be any more IDT updates.

and IDT audio control panel ?

The control panel comes with the driver.

Hello Jim,

Thank you for your feedback and your help.

Here is a link I found for an update version of the driver codec, the 6.10.6495.0 (release date : 2013/10/24) :

6.10.6495.0 version

It seems that on the Realtek website here is another version which is the R2.79 :

R2.79 version

Do not know which one to choose ??!!!

Bests.

Hello. The correct drivers for the Latitude E5520 can be found on the html page I linked to earlier, and also on the Latitude E5520 support page.

You can also try random drivers that you find on the internet. Although they were written for other Dell models or even other computer brands, you might find some that will work on your laptop. The only way to know for sure is by experimenting. Make a Restore Point before installing an unknown driver so that you can easily undo any potential problems.

As for any Realtek driver -- Realtek is a different company from IDT and it does not write drivers for IDT audio chips, so don't use a Realtek driver.

Once again, many thanxs Jim for your help.

I will check the Latitude E5520 support page.
