D610 and Igo Power Adapter - Unknown AC Source During boot, will not charge battery

Hi - trying to see if there is a work-around to disable the power source check that is performed during the boot process.  I receive a message that informs me the AC power source is unknown as I'm using the Igo power plug instead of my Dell AC plug.  I can bypass the message and boot the machine however the battery will not charge with the Igo during this time.

The Igo is rated for 130watts max. or 15-24volts.  The Dell AC plug produces 19.5volts of output.
Thanks for your help.

Tim,

I got a similar message the other day when using a Dell AC adapter with a Docking station/Port Replicator.  I believe the adapter was bad as another adapter worked fine with the same DS/PR.

The larger (Dock) adapter is rated DC 19.5V and 4.62A (amps; up to?)

The smaller laptop-only adapter is rated DC 19.5V and 3.34A.

So the difference may be in how much current the adapter is capable of delivering, not the watts.

Does your I-go have voltage AND current ratings?

(side-note) I have written an inquiry to LITE-ON TECHNOLOGY CORPORATION through their website requesting information on the adapters.

That stinks, doesn't it?

According to Igo's website, their adapters won't charge Dell computers.

I learned the hard way that if the pin in one of Dell's DC adapters is bent or removed, the laptop won't charge, either. So if you have this problem with a Dell power adapter, look at the pin in the adapter plug (the part that you plug into the notebook).

If you have the problem with an adapter that will work in the notebook but not the docking station, it's because the docking station needs an adapter with higher wattage, i think it's 95 vs. 65 or so. The adapters look alike, but the dock comes with an adapter that outputs higher wattage, and that's the one you need to plug into the dock.
