AC Adapter overheated and started to smoke. Latitude D620. LA90PS0-00 90 Watt AC Adapter.

My AC Adapter overheated and started smoking.  It is no longer functional.

Has Dell had a recall on the LA90PS0-00 90 Watt Adapter?

Would Dell replace my unit at no cost?

Thanks

If it (the system) is under warranty, yes.  If not, no.

These are the models for which adapters have been recalled:

Has there been a recall on this model adapter?

There have been reports of computers catching fire and I have another adapter, same model, etc.

Thanks

I found this thread because I have recalled PA6 AC adapters.   I used to able to go to http://www.delladapterprogram.com and enter data in a web form to identify recalled adapters.   The process was drama-free and quick - I got replacement adapters and used the original packaging to send back the recalled adapters for proper disposal.

I just found out the web form's gone away.   It's been replaced by an old set of phone numbers.

The number listed for US Support at 866 720 5347 points to a call center dedicated to field service technicians.   People there have told my call's not the first of its kind, but directed me to other numbers whose operators could not help me.

Tech Support at 800 822 8965 couldn't help after several calls.  Customer Care at 800 624 9897 also failed.  The Recall Hotline at 800 418 8590 points me back to 866 720 5347.

There was one number I apparently miswrote when I heard it.   When I dialed 866 487 3863 I got the Gustavus Adolphus College.   The closest number I could find that was related Dell pointed to a recycling program for Michigan residents.

I'd love to hear from someone who has successfully replaced their PA-6 AC adapter within the past six months.

Thanks for reading!
