Upgrading My Wireless Card

Hello All!

I am in need of some help. I bought my Dell on Black Friday for a good deal as a basic daily driver. So to speak. I only have 1 gripe with it. THE WIRELESS IS THE WORST I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED IN MY LIFE.

It doesnt matter where im connect, the connection **bleep**. And ive made sure it was the laptop by using older laptops i happen to have AS WELL AS multiple phones and game consoles. I have had enough of it.

Ive uploaded some pictures showing my model info, Wireless Card in the laptop as it stands, as well as the socket its going in.

Please provide any help that you can.

Image uploads initially are only visible to the person who uploaded them and to Dell moderators until they get approved for others to see, but if you simply post the full model of your system (as text), people can check the specs on it to learn what type of slot it has for WiFi and therefore recommend a replacement.  Or you can wait for the images to be approved.

Ok, that’s an M.2 card, so I’d recommend the Intel 9260 if you can find it easily, otherwise the Intel 8265 is still an excellent card and should be more readily available. Do NOT get the Intel 9560. That’s basically a version of the 9260 that requires a CPU that has some WiFi components built into it, and if your CPU doesn’t, then it won’t work. The 9260 is essentially the same card as a “self-contained” unit.

Also, the card you are holding is a narrow version.  Most cards have the screw down slot in the center.

I assume it has a keyway which fits correctly when the card it right side up..  The one I have which I purchased in error, is a Killer Wireless 1525....

Sorry for a late reply everyone. I never saw notifications for it. I'll definitely look at the Intel ones mentioned above.

Are either of them Wireless AC capable?

@Macogrande  both of the Intel models I mentioned are 802.11ac, in fact the 9260 is 802.11ac Wave 2.
