SSD Advive
Inspiron 15 3510
I am trying to put an SSD in this laptop (Dell Inspiron 15 3510) and I went to the manual and it said a 2280 would work, well it didn't, and I was checking to see if it is the right one. Here is the link https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C3ZR818X?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1 and here is the description:
Fikwot FN203 1TB M.2 SATA SSD - SLC Cache 3D NAND TLC SATA III 6Gb/s M.2 2280 NGFF Internal Solid State Drive, Up to 550MB/s, Compatible with Ultrabooks, Tablet Computers and Mini PCs
Thank you for your help.

The SSD you purchased is a SATA drive, you need an M.2 PCIe SSD. According to the specs the 3510 does not support a SATA M.2 SSD.
EDIT:
Something like this will work but keep in mind that it is gen 3 and your M.2 slot is 2 x 4 so the performance will be somewhat slower. But the drive is backward compatible.

@JOcean Thank you very much. I suspect I was not paying as close attention as I should have :)

@hisyoryb Happy to help out and many many users have made the same mistake. Being as the two formats look very similar.
